Displaced Workers Fund Program

 

The Displaced Workers Fund Program is a community fund that is managed by St. Martin Community Center, Inc.

Please call to verify that funds are available. After reading the guidelines below, if you think that you may qualify for this program, please us at 651-9324 to schedule an appointment.

                               Guidelines

  • The person must live or have been employed by a business or industry within Grant County for a period of no less than six (6) months.  They must not be terminated in their employment.
  • The person must have been laid-off or on a sick leave for a minimum of fourteen (14)  calendar days prior to application.
  • Unemployment must be related to economic conditions (such as closings and lay-offs) and not as a result of poor employment records.
  • An individual must be on lay-off or sick leave for less than two (2) years.  No assistance will be given towards any charges that occurred prior to the lay-off or sick leave.
  • The person/household is allotted a one-time, up to $300.00, assistance.  Assistance will be paid directly to the creditor upon proper documentation.  Once the one-time assistance is used, the person/household is not eligible for further assistance.  This allotment will no longer be available when the Displaced Workers Funds are depleted.
  • The Displaced Workers Fund Committee may review special cases.
  • Referrals will be made to appropriate supportive services.
  • A person may repay this program if they initiate this option on their own.  The repayment would be designated to the Displaced Workers Fund.
